Wet and Wild-or A Day at the Waterpark....

For Your Next Vacation......

You might want to consider spending the day at a wonderful waterpark...In this day and age of extreme heat and it seems the summers are continually getting hotter, places in TX this year have been almost two months in the over 100 degree range.

If I were still down there, I would have bought a season pass to this place...my home away from home in the heat when I lived there!

Schlitterbahn......the best in the South..

and in Kansas City too!!! Schlitterbahn .....when I fist heard of it, I was like-what is that? The name is so funny....is it a German Restarurant?? The person who was telling me about it laughed and said no, it is a waterpark to beat all waterparks....

Now I have been to waterparks before, so I was just assuming it was a place with a few slides and rides in the water and that was it.....but noooooo........This place is - if you are going to TX for a vacation or live there (if you live there you know it well I am sure)- the only place to be in the heat...I love the beach, the ocean, the waves, but after a while, the sand and salt air just kind of get gritty and salty if you know what I mean...you need a break from it in some clean water.

If I had joined hubpages at an earlier date, I would have written about this sooner, as it is only open on the weekend now and will shut down for the winter months I believe.....This park is just unbelievable. And when I went, I made an adventure out of it, not wanting to pay the price of a motel or a hotel....I went camping at one of the State Parks nearby and went on a few (and it took a couple of days to go through this park) day excursions into New Braunfels to the park.....

Schlitterbahn is several miles large. When I say large, you can take a Schlitter-bus to various areas in the park.....and it is really easy to spend days there....There is a wonderful area which has kind of like a little river running though it and you get on a tube and float around and around, and in this area is a wave pool, and is really nice for people who have small children to go and sit and watch them play in the water.....They have chairs and everything there for you to sit in to bask in the sun and have some fun....

The rides, oh you may have to stand in line for a bit....I actually took a cooler with food and put it in a locker-there are lockers provided for you to keep thing safe in while you are splashing....and tables for you to eat at...They have concessions as well....but I am a conservatibve person when travelling, so I brought my own!!! The rides are just so much fun, one I recall was a tube ride through all types of hills and vales and ended up right at the river....I went on this several times....floated around in the wave pool and caught some rays for a bit and waited for the crowds to subside.....

They have uphill water coasters, miles and miles of constantly running water to keep cool in and play the day away no matter what age you are at. Schlitterbahn West is where I started and worked my way over to Blastenhoff.....You really need to make a plan to spend a few days here because it is just totally impossible to go through this park in one day. They have a "Surfenburg" but I didn't want to go there, got too much of that at home....Didn't have the time anyhow....but I will tell you one thing, I had the most enjoyable day of my life there, and I have been, seen and done a bunch of things.....but Schlitterbahn is tha bomb!!!

And the camping thing worked out really well too, as I am an avid camper, after playing in the water all day the ride back to the campground was a little long, but when I crawled in that bag to go to sleep, I slept like a baby, dreaming of floating through tubes and tunnels of water.....what an adventure.....You might want to check it out and make plans for next year!!!

They have locations in: New Braunfels, South Padre Island, Galveston (TX locations) and also one in Kansas City, Kansas.....and offer tickets as well as Season Passes...you may be able to get them online.... and at Christmas time, oh my! They have a show in there with 15 million lights literally and it transforms itself into a major winter wonderland in the heart of TX......What other choice do you have but to go there????? PS Don't forget your shades...you will need them, and better get one of those strings to keep them attached to your head while you are going through some of these rides...they get wild and wooly sometimes!!

Now that I am up north, I will have to try out Wisconsin Dells....I hear it is pretty mahvelous too!  I am a water baby at heart!!

Hey Knightheart, we could make the one in KC....too far to go to TX....this is my all time favorite place to go and fun thing to do....Best way to beat the heat in the USA!! No salt or grit either...some of the rides are really steep so you have to have a stout heart, but if you are not afraid of heights....man, you can't beat this place with a stick. How far is KC from here anyhow? I'm game....LOL

Kansas City is about 250 miles or a 4 hour ride from here. I believe there is one located at Worlds of Fun park, just north of the city. But there are much closer ones...there is one just about 5 miles from my house in Maryland Hts, and also one at Six Flags in Eureka! I haven't been to one in years and love to swim. I must be part flounder! ROFLOL

I am not afraid of heights...I am a biker and am fearless, except for when I see cows on the road or Ford Pintos.

Which brings to mind the scene in Me,Myself and Irene, when Jim Carey comes upon the prize cow in the middle of the road sleeping. Swimming is one of my favorite things, I have never been able to find just one favorite thing to do except it must be studying the Word as I do that most of all. Thanks for reading and Have a blessed and joyous day!
