Sunscreen Ingredients Helping to Boost Skin Cancer Rate....

By Wealthmadehealthy

As we start our vacation season......

preparing for days at a time in the sand, and fun in the sun, most of us assuredly pack our sunscreen.   It is a must to keep from the eternal burn which ruins our sleep, our skin and our lives for a bit if we burn bad enough or forget to wear it.

It should be the first thing we put on if we are going out to do yardwork, take a walk in the park or do anything where our skin is exposed to the wonderful warming, rays of the sun, which are harmful when not protected against.

Having lived many years ........

on an island, where there is virtually no escape from the suns' harmful rays, I learned to wear it instead of regular lotion. I am glad I did, for after years of beaching, boating, walking, riding bicycles in the bright wonderful rays, my skin stayed vibrant, not wrinkled and I had a beautiful tan almost all year long.

I am a water baby. I love the beach, and swimming....the lake, the pool....anywhere there is water...but, I never go out without my "screen".....as in sun. Obviously I had chosen a good variety to wear for my skin was not harmed by any types of cancers at all.

Recently however, I read an article which alarmed me, so I thought I would share the information with all of you who are braving the beach, and doing massive outdoor activities. Living where I did, I had to caution tourists continually to keep the sunscreen on and to put aloevera on their skin if they burned. The aloe heals the burns quickly and actually takes the burn out of the burn.

The ultraviolet rays from the sun are the ones which cause the damage to the skin and cancers to start in it. Most of us purchase a sunscreen which will keep us from burning, but how much of the ultraviolet rays does it actually keep off our skin???

This is a good question and the reason WHY you should read your sunscreen label just as if it were a food you were going to ingest, as your skin DOES ingest the lotions you put on it. This goes for you, your children and your hairless chi chi dog.....or chijauwa if you put screen on it too.....I would guess one of those dogs would burn in the sun with no hair on it....lol

A study which was performed 10 years ago......by the FDA......who of course neglected to mention this study being done or the dangers they found.......gee, is this why we have had exasbarated rates of skin cancer in these past years??? And of course, the FDA never hid anything before did they?? I will ask you to please listen to what I am trying to tell you here.

The study showed that sunscreen companies who put vitamin A in their products were actually putting something in there which accelerated the cases of tumors and lesions at least 21% faster than those without. So please don't buy a screen with vitamin A in it. Please.

The FDA naturally denied the study being done at all, but Toxicology Reports from the National Toxicology Program and also documents from the FDA itself found by Jane Houlihan (EWGs senior vice president of research) showed these studies had indeed been done.

So here we again enter a question......how much of what the FDA actually tells us is the truth?? This is not the only mistruth or hidden report which has been discovered, but to me, is clear indication of the rise in sun related cancers.

The ultraviolet rays A and B are the harmful ones from the sun. The sunscreens on the market have gotten to have extremely high SPF values up to 80 or higher......but how much protection does this actually give you when your sunscreen contains additives which are harming you without the suns rays??? This is a veritable can of worms that you need to open and disect before purchasing your sunscreen.

My postulation is the reason why did not the FDA expose this threat to our skin, causing all of the people who got skin cancers from the sun to be protected???   The FDA is now saying that the EWG is a fanatical group of some sort, trying to undermine them, but again, in my opinion, I want to be protected from those who are not protecting me.   This study should have been made public knowledge 10 years ago when it was completed.   Can anyone tell me why it was not???

There is a lot more to this can of worms.  It is one we all need to open.  And can of worms = a can of snakes, venomous ones when it comes to saying "bring it" to a skin cancer of any kind.   Please feel free to read the link which I have provided.

Read your sunscreen labels BEFORE YOU BUY AND DO NOT BUY ANY WITH VITAMIN A IN THEM......PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILDREN FROM THE POSSIBILITY OF SKIN CANCER........PLEASE!!!

I will tell you now. I have used Hawaiian Tropic and also Coppertone. Never above an 8 in protection. I lived in the sun. Worked in the sun, Ate in the sun.....I have no cancers, lesions but yet I never checked the ingredients either. Kept it on, kept reapplying it after water activity, took umbrellas.......wore coverups, shirts, whatever to get the sun off of me when I thought I had been in it too long.......Never oil, for then you become chicken in the fry pan. Burn City.....fried pie......Hats, always a hat or a visor to protect my face. I always had a wonderful tan.....but please be careful what you buy, read the label.

May you have a blessed summer, wonderful and safe vacation....but don't forget to wear some type of sunscreen.  And take along a beach umbrella, or some way to get in the shade.  Learn, don't burn!!

Great info - rated this one up! I have also heard that the Broad Spectrum lotions are the best. I'm going to check my lotions right away to see if they have vitamin A. Thanks!

Thanks for reminding me to READ THE LABELS. Sunscreens are like anything manufactured by us humans, it "is buyer beware".

Then there are the controversial messages we keep getting from those "in the know". Use sunscreen all the time. Don't use sunscreen it causes vitamin D deficiency.

The only thing I can add is to educate yourself about sunscreens and anything else a person puts in or on their bodies.

Patti Ann, thanks for reading. I am not sure of "Broad Spectrum"...I only know that coppertone (I checked my bottle I am using now) has only good stuff in it. Also the Hawaiian Tropic has kept my skin silky smooth...30 years in the sun?? No wrinkles....has to be the screen..LOL

reddog...so nice to hear from you, I hope you are well, I know you have "granchillens" so make sure they are protected...and you too!! A blessed day to you both!! As I said, Learn, don't burn!!

Great information, just in time for summer. Another thing to consider is the correlation of Vitamin D deficiency and sunscreen. New evidence is now suggesting that we need moderate (10-15 minutes) of unprotected sun exposure in order to supply the needed vitamin D.

I would not even to begin to listen to any "reports" which tell you to go unprotected at any point. The FDA has already been proven to give out false information to increase the ills to promote the "big pharma" industry, doctor visits, and prescription drug buying.

NEVER EVER GO OUT WITHOUT PROTECTION ON YOUR SKIN. The sun provides plenty of vitamin D. What you are doing wearing sunscreen is blocking the HARMFUL RAYS of the sun, not preventing the helpful ones going in. Always put a protector on your skin. Oil of Olay even has a sunscreen in it, yet still keeps your skin in excellent condition. Do not let anyone ever tell you to go unprotected. It amazes me that the people who continually put out these reports have been proven to give wrong information. I wrote a hub on a researcher who is facing time for falsifying reports to the FDA. ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTION ON YOUR SKIN!!!!!

Thank you Lamme for your comment. May you have a blessed day!!
