How about a Spiced Rum and Coffee or a Warm Spiced Wine for Sippin on a cold winters day?
Drinks for the Holidays are sometines
the same also. Again, we all have our favorites, but I am always on the lookout for new and exciting things to add to my already bursting recipe box.
I actually worked as a bartender for a bit in my earlier years, and I got to realize that people of one sort always drank the same things, over and over again, while other people would actually try something new on a whim.
Maybe you already have these delicious drinks in you files, but if not, take a moment to try one or two of them out.
I think you will enjoy them. Happy Holidays!!
Spice up your Day with a Spiced Rum and Coffee!!
Embellish a robust cup of coffee with a little spiced rum and a dollop of whipped cream. Sweet, smooth – perfect for a cold winter evening.
Using the Ingredients you I am sure already have on hand:
12 ounces hot brewed coffee
4 ounces dark or spiced rum
2 ounces almond liqueur (Amaretto)
Sweetened whipped cream
In 4-cup glass measure, combine coffee, rum, and liqueur. Pour into mugs; float thin layer of whipped cream on top. Serve immediately.
Three people may enjoy what you have just whipped up in a flash....Make more when necessary!!
Or Try a Parisian Coffee....Ooh la la!
A blend of liqueurs makes dark, rich coffee something special. Topped with whipped cream and chocolate, it can double as dessert!
2/3 cup hot coffee
2 tablespoons brandy
1 tablespoon Grand Marnier
1 tablespoon Kaluha
In a 2-cup glass measure, combine all ingredients. Pour into 2 coffee mugs.
Top each with whipped cream and chocolate shavings, if desired.
Makes two 6-ounce servings
Need to know more about Rum??
Warm Spiced Wine to liven your evening!
A coffee filter keeps the spices tidy as the fruit wine simmers. Keep the ingredients on hand for an open-house treat, impromptu party, or quick holiday gift.
2 tablespoons orange peel strips
6 whole cloves
6 whole allspice
6 whole black peppercorns
Coffee filter and kitchen twine
1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine
4 ounces brandy
½ cup sugar
1 cinnamon stick
Orange slices
Combine these wonderful ingredients in this manner:
Place orange peel, cloves, allspice, and peppercorns in center of coffee
filter; bring up edges and tie with kitchen twine. Set aside.
In large non-reactive saucepan, combine wine, brandy, and sugar; stir
until sugar dissolves. Add spice bag and cinnamon stick; bring to a boil
over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and gently simmer for 30 minutes.
Ladle into mugs; garnish with orange slice. Serve immediately.
And now you have made 6 people very happy...or make some up and give everyone a very Merry Ho Ho Christmas!
And for You Hot Chocolate Lovers...How grown up are You??
Whether you’re building a snowman, shoveling the driveway, or watching the flakes fly from inside, this rich and creamy winter warmer hits the spot.
And the fixins are:
4 cups chocolate milk
3 ounces coffee liqueur (Kaluha or Tia Maria)
1 ounce Bailey’s Irish Cream
Aerosol whipped cream
Dark chocolate shavings
In medium saucepan, heat chocolate milk over medium heat until heated
through (do not boil). Remove from heat. Add liqueur and Irish Cream.
Ladle into mugs; top with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate
shavings. Serve immediately. (To only 4, - but you are always able to make more.....until you fall down!!)
As the weather gets colder,
we are all stuck inside. Hot chocolate is the best to warm you innards after any outdoor activity in this weather. Just remember. Alcohol does not warm you up, it just gives you a warm fuzzy feeling.
Should you drink outside your home during the Holiday Season. please remember to name a designated driver who will not be drinking. Have a safe am Merry Christmas....
Aloha!!
