Is Bigfoot alive and well in Minnesota.....???

There are many differing views ......

of this creature, and many different hoaxes have been discovered concering the giant hairy legendary "ape-man" who has been purported to roam in the wilderness.

After watching our local news the other day, and learning of a real society who is actually taking down sightings of it, I decided to do some research as to the validity of his existence.

What I discovered was very interesting to say the least.   As far as people making things up and "staging sightings"....this is just a way to gain notoriety and fame....and in extremely poor taste....

As early as the days of Samuel.....

writings in the Bible show of a race of giant men.....as noted in 2Samuel 21:20....who had six fingers and six toes and four sons of which were slain by David and his servants...also in 1 Chronicles, 20:6,  and in both books it is relaying the same battle....but a giant race of "men" did exist in the days of David.

In researching further, I discovered in the year 1772 reports of the larger than life Sasquatch were made by a Spainard who was exploring British Columbia....and that Washington south of Olympia was a place they dwelt in for quite some time as evidenced by the river named after them by the Indian Tribes who once inhabited the area .....  The Skookumchuck River.

The Indians called them "skookums"....which means wild man. The Indians in the pacific northwest would give up parts of the Puget Sound area to the skookums as area for them to live in....There are many things still named to mark the land the "skookums".....or bigfoot was given access to live in.

There are many different things which have suggested for quite some time of it's existence; not only the legends, but totem poles, and carvings of them which are housed in several museums.  and also the contact history of the Skookums (bigfoots) and the Indians.

Now as to carvings and totem poles......the Indian tribes made these things to preserve the history of it, much like the drawings found of many beasts of prey on cave walls in the days of prehistoric man.    The animals in the drawings were real enough weren't they??   Well, if you can see beyond the people who are vying for fame in false representations of this man/animal, there should be a concern of it's preservation.

In 1940, a woman was terrified by an 8' Sasquatch (bigfoot) who had gone to the cabin she and her husband lived in....her husband was working down the railroad tracks a ways ans she refused to go back to her home.....Upon investigation, a large barrel of fish had been turned over, there were 16 inch tracks which showed the thing had stepped over a fence, crushed potatoes under it's weight, and never missed a stride.

Members of the Colville Indian Reservation in northeastern Washington or Spokane Tribe refer to it as Scweneyti or "Tall, hairy, smells like burnt hair"   So this would give us what to run from if we ever encountered such a smell coming downwind in the forest, because I for one, would run like hell, not try to take pictures of it.

In 1882, some railroad builders reported captured one they called Jacko.....it is said they put it on a train and shipped it off east, but this report was never verified as it never made it to it's destination......it is still  a mystery....

In 1924, a man named Albert Ostmen from his gold mining area in British Columbia was taken by a Skookum (or Sasquatch) kidnapped if you will and escaped with his life after several days in captivity....evidently it left horrible psychological scars and he was not able to talk about it until 1957 at which time he made an official statement to a judge and never recanted his story....

Also in 1924, 5 prospectors had a battle with a group (yes a group) of what they called "mountain devils" on the slopes of Mt St Helens....this was recorded in the Portland Oreganian on July 13, 1924....it stated that one of the creatures looked like a huge Goliath and had been killed in the process.....and by the 1960's only one of the men was able to speak of this---his name was Fred Beck and he never changed his story either.

There have been verified kidnappings of people by the large creatures..one such story of a newly wed couple in 1945 missing from their cabin, with large 16 inch footprints around it, a cold meal on the stove inside and they were never found again......kind of scary don't you think...

HOW DID IT GET IT'S NAME??

In 1958 a road building crew in Weitchpec, in northwest California was having their equipment disturbed at night and had found numerous huge footprints in the area...Having made plaster casts of them, the creature became known as "Bigfoot".....

In 1969, a reseacher by the name of Rene Dabinden walked a trail of these footprints and counted over a thousand of them and lost sight of them at the Columbia River in Washingont, the tracks picked up on the other side of the river further down....and then were lost in the trees....

In 2003, many more tracks were found by Cliff Olsen and Jeff Beelart near Oregon City...after a night camping...the tracks were a short distance from their campground...

Here in Minnesota, there have been yet more recent sightings, so many, our local newsation ran a blip and had people tell what they had seen.  One woman was so terrified, they are not deeming it a hoax.

A person here who has trapped for many years says he has never actually seen one, but when shown tracks just miles from where he has trapped, he is forced to believe somewhat.

There is actually a society for the Bigfoot here...It is called the Northern Bigfoot Society.  They have taken numerous reports of sighting.   And it is again my stipulation that so many people are looking for notoriety, he has become yet another hoax in life as we know it....but life is so obviously really different from the way we do know it.

The bigfoot would not live in a city, nor would it live in a highway byway situation....it is a forest creature.   And as many of you who refute it's existence, I again refer you to the Bible, it's existence is reported there.....

It has been driven out of it's natural home - the wild, the forests, the lakes and rivers --  as was the Indian--so the white man is able to build more cities, highways, byways, amusement parks and has used up almost all the land the Sasquatch, or Skookum, had to live in ......how many areas of the US are left with total wilderness in them???

So what are we left with....one lady on the news stated something like this.   She believes they are spiritual creatures......who manifest themselves at will.......My feelings are this, as long as they do not harm anyone, they need to be let to live in peace.   I live in a world where there are still Indian Reservations all around me.   There are vast forest areas in which this creature may live.....it is a little scary after doing all this research to take my dogs out at night, but they have to go......and Bigfoot or no, they will not go in the house!!!

I hope this has been interesting  and maybe given you more insight into the hoaxes and reality that the Sasquatch could actually be real......but not around the mass of concrete we call cities.....

This was an interesting article. If I recall correctly, the Iliad, the Odyssey and the Aeneid all include tales of men who are physically large, far beyond what we'd call large now. Sasquatch though, is a different animal. What would an animal do with a captive human?

FitnezzJim, I do not know, but I was thinking along the same lines today while mowing my acreage....would they try to play with them, try to eat them, lock them in a crude cage made of tree branches as a pet or for observance??

There has been a lot of furor caused around here recently and living near the Chippawa Forest knowing it is nothing but trees and woods, as most of the land around here is reservation land owned by the Indians and basically untouched by what most know as concrete jungles, ya gotta wonder what is really out there....LOL and it can stay out there!!

Thanks for reading!! (by the way, I read the Iliad, Odyssey and the Aeneid and enjoyed them tremendously!) Have a blessed day!!
